Hail and Storm Damage Roof Repair in Fort Collins
Hail season on the Front Range brings two things: real hail damage, and a wave of out-of-town trucks selling roofs door to door. Forever Home is a Fort Collins company. We inspect, photograph and document storm damage, then repair or replace what the evidence supports.

What hail does to a roof
The damage is real, and most of it hides from the ground.
An asphalt shingle is a fiberglass mat coated in asphalt and covered in granules. Hail crushes that structure at the point of impact. The shingle can look fine from the driveway for months, then fail early.
- Bruising. A soft spot where the mat was crushed, often only visible up close or by touch
- Granule loss. Bare asphalt at the impact point, and granules washing into the gutters
- Cracked or fractured mats. The shingle’s structure is broken even when the surface looks intact
- Lifted seals. Wind breaks the adhesive strip, so shingles flap and tear in the next storm
- Dented soft metals. Vents, flashing, gutters and drip edge take dents that tell the story of the hail
- Siding and window wraps. Chipped paint, cracked panels and dented aluminum on the sides facing the storm
An inspection puts all of this in dated photos, slope by slope, so the record exists whether or not you file a claim.

The days after a storm
Six things to do, and one thing not to.
Wet, loose granules make it a fall hazard
Hail on the lawn, dents, debris, downspouts
Policies and claims run on the storm date
Do not sign anything on the porch
Schedule a documented inspection
Photos and written findings, yours to keep
Reporting windows vary by policy
The one thing not to do: let pressure set your timeline. A documented inspection today keeps every option open.
How storm damage repair works
Document first. Decide second. Build third.

01
Storm inspection
We walk every slope and the exterior, mark impacts, and photograph shingles, metals, siding and trim, with the storm date on record.
02
Written findings and scope
You get the photos and a written scope that says whether the roof is repairable or needs replacement, and what each option involves. Share it with your insurer if you file.
03
You decide, on your timeline
Nothing is built until you approve it. If a claim is involved, that usually means waiting for your insurer’s decision. We do not negotiate the claim; we make sure the record is clear.
04
Repair or replace, then walk it
The approved scope is built, whether that is a roof repair, a full roof replacement or siding and trim work. Cleanup, magnetic sweep, walkthrough.

Local company, not a storm chaser
We will still be in Fort Collins after the trucks leave.
After a big hail event, crews from out of state follow the storm into Northern Colorado, sign as many contracts as they can and move on. When something goes wrong with that roof a year later, there is nobody to call. Forever Home is based here. The people who inspect your roof are the people who answer the phone afterward, and our work has to hold up in front of our own neighbors.
- Documented inspection before any recommendation
- Written scope you can compare against anyone else’s
- No contracts signed on the porch, no deductible games
- Honest answer if the roof does not need work

Storm damage questions
What homeowners ask after a hailstorm.
How can I tell if my roof has hail damage?
From the ground, look for dents in gutters, downspouts and vents, granules collecting below the downspouts, and chipped paint or cracks on siding. Shingle bruising itself is usually only visible up close, which is why a documented inspection matters.
Does hail damage need to be fixed right away?
Not the same week, but not never. Damaged shingles lose granules and let UV and water into the mat, so they fail sooner than the rest of the roof. Document it promptly, then decide on your own timeline and within your policy’s reporting window.
A roofer knocked on my door after the storm. Should I sign with them?
Do not sign anything on the porch. Ask for a documented inspection with photos, a written scope and a local address, and take time to compare. A legitimate company will not need an answer on the spot.
Should I file an insurance claim for hail damage?
Get the roof inspected first so you know whether there is damage worth reporting. If there is, the photos and written scope give your insurer a clear record. Whether to file is your decision, and the claim outcome is your insurer’s.
Can hail damage be repaired, or does the whole roof need replacing?
It depends on how many impacts there are, how they are spread across the slopes, and the age and condition of the shingles. Isolated damage on a sound roof can be repaired; widespread bruising on an aging roof usually means replacement. The inspection findings show which.
Do you also repair siding, gutters and windows damaged by hail?
We repair siding, fascia, soffit, trim and window wraps as part of storm damage exterior work. Damaged gutters and drip edge are documented in the inspection so nothing is left out of the record.
Will you waive my deductible or work with my insurance to cover it?
No. Deductible waivers are not something we offer, and offers like that are a warning sign. We document the damage and build the approved scope; the deductible is between you and your policy.
